Tiffin services in Hyderabad: three different things, one word

The lady in your building who sends up a dabba, an app connecting you to home chefs across the city, and a company delivering a published menu on a fixed route are all called a tiffin service. They cost differently, fail differently, and suit completely different people. Sorting that out is most of the decision.

We run one of the three — the last kind. The cheapest option on this page is not ours and we have said so, along with where to find it.

Know what you are buying

The three kinds, and what each really costs

Monthly figures are for one meal a day, which is how tiffin is normally sold.

Types of tiffin service in Hyderabad compared
KindMonthly costWhat you are actually getting
The neighbourhood dabba₹2,500–4,000One cook, a few streets, arranged by word of mouth. Cheapest by a distance and often the best food. No menu in advance, no refund when you skip, and if she is unwell you have no lunch and no recourse.
Home-chef platformsvaries by chefTiffit, Homefoodi and similar. You pick the kitchen, which is the real advantage — regional cuisines a single provider will never cook. Consistency depends on the individual chef rather than the platform.
A meal subscription₹2,700–4,160A company with a published menu, a fixed window, a refund policy and someone to call. More expensive than the dabba, more predictable, and easier to walk away from.

If the local dabba works for you, it is genuinely hard to beat on price and we would not try to talk you out of it. The case for everything else on this page is consistency, knowing what is coming, and getting your money back on the days you do not eat.

Where to look

Finding one near you

Ask in your building first — it is how most good tiffins get found. These are what to do when that fails.

  1. Sulekha

Quote-request marketplace covering the whole city, with per-locality pages.

  2. Justdial

Business listings with phone numbers you can call today.

  3. QuikrEasy

Requirement matching for tiffin and home-food providers.

The subscription end

If you want a company rather than an arrangement

Ranked for an everyday vegetarian lunch. For non-veg, dinner or regional cooking the order changes, and each entry says how.

  1. Nuggit — the formal end of tiffin

A chef-cooked, home-style vegetarian lunch delivered in a fixed 12–2 PM window across 15 Hyderabad localities, cooked the same morning in FSSAI-certified kitchens. The month's menu is published, so you know Wednesday's lunch on Monday.

₹2,700–4,160 for 26 lunches — ₹90200 a meal by pack size, no fees of any kind, and a skipped day refunded in full if you skip before 9 PM.

The catch: Dearer than a neighbourhood dabba, lunch only, pure vegetarian, and ₹5,000 to start. If price is the only axis that matters, the dabba wins and we would rather you knew that from us.

  2. Same Old Box

Daily meal subscriptions across Hyderabad, with breakfast, lunch and dinner and a wide spread of dietary options.

    from ₹99/day

Better than us at: Almost everything we do not do: non-veg, breakfast and dinner, high-protein, low-calorie and diabetic-friendly plans. And you can start on a 2-day plan, which is a far smaller bet than our entry pack.

Where we differ: Lunch only and pure vegetarian, with one menu rather than a catalogue of diets. Narrower on purpose — it is what lets one kitchen cook the whole city fresh each morning.

  3. Tiffit

Homemade food from certified home chefs, with per-locality pages across several Indian cities.

Better than us at: You get food from a home kitchen, and a choice of which one — closer to actual home cooking than a professional kitchen cooking at scale can be.

Where we differ: One FSSAI-certified partner kitchen cooking a planned menu to a recipe and a portion spec. Less personal; more consistent, and the reason a month rarely repeats a main.

  4. Homefoodi

Home chefs, tiffin and catering, with genuine regional range — Bengali, Rajasthani, Gujarati and Jain among them.

Better than us at: Regional cuisines we simply do not cook. If you want Bengali food specifically, or Jain food prepared properly, this is a real answer and we are not.

Where we differ: A North and South Indian home-style rotation, published a month ahead so you can see what is coming rather than choose every day.

  5. Vyannjan

Healthy and diet-focused meal subscriptions in Hyderabad, including high-protein plans.

Better than us at: Diet-specific eating. If you are training to a macro target or eating to a medical constraint, a plan built around that beats a general home-style menu.

Where we differ: Everyday food with calories and protein printed per plate, rather than a diet programme. Tracked, not prescribed.

FAQ

Tiffin services in Hyderabad — your questions

How much does a tiffin service cost in Hyderabad?

Depends which of the three kinds you mean. A neighbourhood dabba runs roughly ₹2,500–4,000 a month for one meal a day and is usually the cheapest thing available. Home-chef platforms sit higher. Meal subscriptions run ₹90–200 a meal depending on how much you buy at once. The cheapest is almost always the local dabba — the trade is consistency and recourse.

What should I check before paying for a month?

Taste it first, and never pay a full month before you have. Then ask three questions people skip: what happens on days you do not eat, whether the kitchen is FSSAI-registered, and who you call when it does not arrive. The first is where the real monthly cost hides.

Is a tiffin service cheaper than cooking?

On money alone, usually not — groceries for one person come in under most tiffin rates. On money plus time it is not close, once you count shopping, cooking and cleaning at roughly an hour a day. The honest comparison is against what you actually do on a Wednesday, which for most people is ordering in at about ₹260.

What is the difference between a tiffin service and a meal subscription?

Mostly formality. A tiffin service is typically one cook or one small kitchen serving a neighbourhood, arranged informally and paid monthly. A subscription is a company: a published menu, a fixed delivery window, an app, a refund policy. Neither is better in the abstract — one is cheaper and more personal, the other more predictable and easier to leave.

How do I find a tiffin service near me?

Ask in your building first — it is how most good ones get found, and the food is already being delivered to your address. Failing that, Sulekha, Justdial and QuikrEasy all carry per-locality tiffin listings for Hyderabad, and all three are linked on this page.
